SEMS names September Citizens of the month

Citizenship has become an "unofficial theme" for the year for students at South Effingham Middle School. Principal Pete Iott promotes the importance of maintaining good citizenship to the students on a daily basis.

Cayton speaks at annual dining-out

Effingham County High School Air Force Junior ROTC held its annual dining-out with guest speaker Andy Cayton. Cayton is retired from the Army where he served as a helicopter pilot for Special Operations and is now a professional balloonist who has set multiple records. He spoke to the students about ballooning including the different types of balloons, and how they are operated. He also explained how his time in the military helped to give him the discipline he needs in ballooning.

Savannah Tech enrollment tops 5,000 for first time

SAVANNAH – Record numbers of students packed into classrooms, hallways and parking lots at Savannah Technical College for the first day of the fall quarter. Early numbers show that 5,140 students are enrolled, marking a 12 percent increase from last year at this time when enrollment was 4,585 and a 34 percent increase over the summer quarter.
