SEHS French students grade tres bien on national exams

According to the Georgia Department of Education, foreign language skills are vital to today's national defense, law enforcement and economic security. It is, therefore, the goal of the GDOE to enable all students to graduate from high school fluent in one language other than English. Acquiring this kind of skill in a second language is a long and arduous process, demanding hard work and motivation on the part of the student, and a combination of linguistic and pedagogical skill on the part of the teacher.

Bands from South take the stage

Bands from South Effingham Middle School and South Effingham High School participated in their first concert of the year at SEHS on Tuesday. SEMS seventh and eighth grade bands directed by Caitlin Teter and Matthew Leff performed selections including "African Folk Trilogy" and "Variation Overture." SEHS concert band, symphonic band and wind ensemble directed by Sean McBride and Lisa Reams performed selections including "American Folk Fantasy," "Fate of the Gods" and "Celebrations."
