The South Effingham High School varsity competition cheerleading team took first place in the Class AAAAA division in a meet Saturday at Mill Creek High School, featuring some of the best teams in the state.
Ella Bothwell, a student at Blandford Elementary School was diagnosed in April, Ella was diagnosed with DIPG, a type of brain tumor. Blandford, along with several others, held fund raisers before school was out and throughout the summer.

The Effingham Extension office was loaded to capacity as 4-H'ers came to kick off the 4-H 2015-16 school year. The program offers opportunities for youth to acquire knowledge, develop life skills, and form attitudes that will enable them to become self-directing, productive and contributing members of society.
