Career Academy looks to catch Ford PAS

ATLANTA-Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle has announced that the Effingham Career Academy will be receiving a $10,000 grant to support its efforts to become a Ford PAS Next Generation Learning Community. Effingham County High School counselors and media specialists will be hosting their first "Apply to College Week," Jan. 31-Feb. 4. The goal for this event is to provide all Effingham County High School seniors the opportunity to submit at least one application for college admission and someone to assist them as needed to complete the process.

Anna Freeman wins Infinity Ring grand prize

Blandford Elementary School fifth-grade student Anna Freeman has been named the grand prize winner of Scholastic Book Club's Infinity Ring Rewrite History Contest. Freeman's essay was selected from the nearly 3,000 entries from across the country. As a result, James Dashner, author of "Infinity Ring," will be visiting Blandford Elementary and speaking with the fifth-grade classes.
