Georgia State Patrol troopers are continuing to investigate a fatal accident that occurred Tuesday night.

According to the GSP, Lyle Otto, 30, of Savannah, was riding his motorcycle in the left-hand lane of Highway 21 South when he struck a trailer being pulled by a Ford van. The van, being driven by Bobby Wilcox of Hahira, was in the northbound lane and was attempting to turn at Highway 21’s intersection with Beebe Road to make a U-turn.

In the heavy rain and darkness, the motorcycle collided with the van and trailer about 6:18 p.m. as the van failed to yield.

The State Patrol’s specialized collision reconstruction team out of Reidsville is investigating the accident. Charges are pending against Wilcox.
