Carlson completes basic training, AIT Army Pvt. Eric M. Carlson has graduated from the Infantryman One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning in Columbus. States making headway in conserving sandhills In June 2009, Georgia and three neighboring states received a $1 million federal grant to increase the quality, quantity and connectivity of prime sandhill habitat. Carolina Chocolate Drops to play GSU’s PAC The Carolina Chocolate Drops, a trio of exciting young musicians who connect with audiences with their honest energy and a passion for their music, will return to Georgia Southern University’s Performing Arts Center on Sept. 24. Competition’s hot at barbecue cookoff A last-minute change of location and sweltering August temperatures didn’t deter Steve Turcotte or the teams slaving over hot barbecue pits. Faith Equestrian saddles up for Horses for Heroes fundraiser Faith Equestrian Therapeutic Center is raising money for Horses for Heroes on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Brookstone Community Church.
