ECCA recognized by Georgia Senate, House of Representatives

POSTED: February 20, 2017 4:57 p.m.

The Effingham College and Career Academy was honored and recognized this month by both the State of Georgia House of Representatives and the Georgia Senate for its dedicated service to our community and to the state.

On Feb. 7, House Resolution 183, sponsored by Representatives Bill Hitchens of the 161st and Jon Burns of the 159th, was read and adopted before the Georgia House of Representatives.

The following day, Senate Resolution 170, sponsored by Senators Jack Hill of the 4th and Fran Millar of the 40th, was adopted before the Georgia Senate.

Each of the Resolutions serves to recognize the efforts and achievements the ECCA has made and to honor it for being named the 2016 College and Career Academy of the Year.

The Academy was commended for: its commitment to developing and sustaining partnerships with local employers and postsecondary education providers, its drastic increase in student achievement and availability of numerous pathways for students, its dedication to providing students specialized vocational skills for post-secondary success, achieving a 100% graduation rate with graduates moving on towards full time employment or apprenticeships as well as post-secondary education, and actively providing academic and career programs that are furthering student achievement.

Effingham County School District Superintendent Randy Shearouse and several members of the ECCA Board of Directors were in attendance for the presentation of each of these Resolutions.
