Effingham Retired Educators conduct Spring Book Distribution

POSTED: May 26, 2017 11:25 a.m.

Several members of the local REA unit recently met at the Board of Education book warehouse and participated in the selection of titles for groups of students for two elementary schools, Guyton and Sand Hill.

The books were then delivered to a group of students at each school.

“They are always excited to receive a new book with a different title,” EREA President Sandra Moore said.

This project for 2016-2017 was part of the Georgia Retired Educators goal to “Reach out and make a difference”.

On May 3, the newly retired educators were honored at the Board of Education reception with ‘treat bags’ and were extended an invitation to join the next meeting.

At the last meeting on May 8, there were 30 in attendance. An interesting program on “Tips for Traveling” was presented by Jim Sheppard of Screven County.

The Effingham Retired Educators will not meet this summer but will start the new school year with a banquet in September. Information will be sent out closer to the date with more details.
