EOC encourages residents to remain wary of Irma despite course change

POSTED: September 8, 2017 9:36 a.m.

Effingham County EMA has activated its EOC to Operations Level 3-Enhanced operating 12-hour shifts.

There have been significant changes in the forecast models for Hurricane Irma, including a westward shift late Thursday. The EOC encourages everyone to still consider this storm to be a significant threat as the forecast models have changed greatly over the past week and Effingham County is still well within the width of the projection cone.

Reminder of closings: Schools will be closed Friday through Tuesday; county government offices will be closed Friday through Tuesday; State and Superior courts will be closed Monda through Sept. 15.
