Reddick's dream field close to reality

POSTED: October 10, 2017 9:38 a.m.

SPRINGFIELD — Effingham County native and Houston Astros outfielder Josh Reddick is giving back to his hometown community by building a state-of-the-art baseball field.

Reddick, along with Trey Saxon, president of the Josh Reddick Foundation, have been working hand in hand for months with Clarence Morgan, director of Effingham County Recreation Department, and Effingham County commissioners to bring this “Miracle Field” to life.

The field will be located in the new Clarence E Morgan Complex on Hwy. 21 in Springfield

What makes this “Miracle Field” so special? It will be a 100 percent turf field, allowing children with special needs (in wheel chairs or living with other challenges) the opportunity to play on a field and enter dugouts designed with their needs in mind.

This will be a premier facility that will draw groups from all over Georgia and surrounding states.

Reddick has been dreaming of doing something like this in his hometown for a while. He is donating just under $1 million for the project.

The Josh Reddick Field will be ready in time for spring 2018 play.
