Rebels slip past Tigers in extra innings

Rebels pitcher Ethan Johnson allowed five hits and notched eight strikeouts in seven innings against the Tigers on Monday.

After working overtime in Hinesville, the Effingham County Rebels got paid with a 5-1 victory over Bradwell Institute on Monday.

The Rebels plated four 10th-inning runs to win the Region 2-AAAAAA game 5-1.

Jerid Stokes, Perry Fulcher, Cullen Wake and Austin Mealor had hits during the decisive frame.

Ethan Johnson pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and one run with eight strikeouts. Ryan Harley got the win by working the last three frames, surrendering two hits with three strikeouts.

Harley, Fulcher and Wake led the Rebels 12-hit attack with two base knocks apiece.
