RINCON — Nancy Floyd has ended her candidacy, leaving Robert Grant and Lynn Anderson to vie for the Effingham County Board of Education District 1 seat.
Grant, the incumbent, and Anderson are battling to fill the seat in the May 22 election.
Floyd cited health concerns as the reason for her withdrawal, which won't become official until she files an affadavit with Elections Supervisor Olivia Morgan.
"I'm very disappointed because I truly feel I could have done an awesome job with my experience and with my knowledge of our school system, and my doctor is really upset with me for even trying (to run)," Floyd said. "He thinks the stress would cause more problems and, as bad as it is now, I can't afford not to be one hundred percent for the people who believed in me and begged me to run for the school board. I'm very honored that so many people believed in me and wanted me to run."
