SPRINGFIELD — The Ferris wheel of history is about to complete a momentous circuit. The Effingham County Fair will celebrate 75 years of offering family fun in October. To commemorate the special occasion, the Effingham County Fair Committee is searching for fair photos. A select few will be published in the Effingham Herald’s annual fair preview. Publicity Committee Chairman Beth Epling is leading the effort. “You need to have the approximate date of the fair, who is in the photo and what they are doing or showing,” Epling said during Monday’s Effingham County Fair Committee meeting. “We want to pick up a lot of old pictures.” Epling urged people eager to contribute a photo to contact her or the Effingham Herald. Her email is beth@newebenezer.org. The Herald can be reached at 912-826-5012. The photos will be scanned and returned to their owner. “We need to do this real soon because the fair is right around the corner,” Epling said. The 2018 Effingham County Fair will run Oct. 22-27.
