Plenty of fireworks shows in the area to take in

Tybee Island will hold its annual Independence Day fireworks show Thursday, and the show can be enjoyed from the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion, the beach or anywhere on the eastern side of Tybee Island.

The event on “Savannah’s Beach” is free and open to the public. It will start at 9:15 p.m.

The pier and pavilion are at Tybrisa Street and Strand Avenue.

The Savannah Waterfront Association will be hosting its annual 4th of July festival all weekend long beginning Friday and continuing through Sunday.

“Viewing the fireworks on River Street is a Savannah tradition that everyone looks forward to and we are excited to host another fun weekend again this year,” said Carrie Bligh, executive director of the SWA.

The Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks Extravaganza will kick off Friday at 4 p.m. on Rousakis Plaza. There will be live entertainment on the Arbor Stage with special performances from Those Cats at 6 p.m. followed by The Hypnotics at 8 p.m. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m.

The festivities will continue Saturday featuring another live performance for guests to dance to from the Radio Birds at 8 p. m. Festival hours are 4-10 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Regional artisans will be set up along the plaza displaying a variety of handmade works for festival goers to browse through.

Statesboro-Bulloch County’s Firecracker Fest will be held Friday from 4-11 p.m. at Mill Creek Regional Park. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m.

Richmond Hill will host its annual Independence Day and fireworks show Saturday at J.F. Gregory Park. Events begin at 5 p.m. and include a performance by The Tams. Fireworks will start around 9 p.m.

Hunter Army Airfield will hold its Independence Day celebration Thursday, with the 3rd Infantry Division Band performing at 8:40 p.m. and fireworks beginning at 9:30 p.m.

Fort Stewart’s celebration will be Friday, with a howitzer round fired for each state and territory beginning at 8:30 p.m., and fireworks going off starting at 9:30 p.m.
