WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. John Barrow (D-Savannah) has announced special veterans’ office hours throughout the 12th District during next week’s Congressional District Work Period.

Congressman Barrow’s office is able to intervene on a veteran’s behalf if he or she is having problems connecting with the Department of Veterans Affairs or getting their benefits. Officials from the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Georgia Department of Veterans Services, and several veterans’ service organizations (VSOs) will be present to help veterans with claims.

“It’s a disgrace that the VA has neglected so many of our veterans,” said Congressman Barrow.  “While we work to rebuild the VA, we need to address the issues folks are facing right now. Sometimes a quick conversation can help resolve a veteran’s problem, and sometimes more work is needed.  But we can help, and these special offices hours mean veterans will have access to their Congressman, the VA, and other organizations that can help.”

The veterans’ office hours for residents of Effingham, Bulloch, Evans and Screven counties will be held Tuesday at the Georgia Southern University-City Campus, 58 E. Main St. in Statesboro.
