Mandy Barnett performing at Mars Theatre Tuesday

POSTED: February 10, 2017 4:09 p.m.

SPRINGFIELD – Spend an enchanting night of enduring music with one of today’s premiere vocalists, who will also celebrate Valentine’s Day with songs that touch the heart.

Acclaimed recording artist and performer Mandy Barnett charms with breath-taking and deliciously fresh interpretations of songs that made Nashville famous.

The Nashville Songbook is a collection of tunes that define an era – some of the most influential and iconic country and pop standards ever.

Barnett salutes this great anthology by performing songs by Patsy Cline, Elvis, Tammy Wynette, Roy Orbison, Brenda Lee, and others – from Cline’s “Crazy” to Orbison’s “Crying,” and a whole lot in-between.

A singer since the age of five, Mandy Barnett is a world-class vocalist whose style is deeply rooted in the classic country and pop crooning of the all-time great singers.

The Tennessee native first garnered national attention as a teenager, earning rave reviews for her portrayal of the legendary Patsy Cline in the theatrical production Always…Patsy Cline at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium, and appearing in this title role on the original cast album.

Barnett released her debut album Mandy Barnett following the triumphant first run of Always…Patsy Cline, and the follow-up record, I’ve Got a Right to Cry, was produced by Nashville Sound pioneer Owen Bradley (producer of Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Brenda Lee), his final contribution to the music community before his death.

I’ve Got a Right to Cry was named the top country album in the year of its release by Rolling Stone, and similar stellar reviews appeared in People, Newsweek, and other national magazines and newspapers.

Barnett’s subsequent albums have likewise garnered substantial critical notice.

Barnett has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Late Show with David Letterman, CBS Sunday Morning, PBS’s Sessions at West 54th, and numerous other television programs throughout her career.

Additionally, she has been a featured artist on a host of movie and television series soundtracks (such as A Walk On the Moon, Traveler, Space Cowboys, Election, Drop Dead Gorgeous, and Crazy) and even sang on the SpongeBob SquarePants album, sharing the spotlight with the likes of Brian Wilson, Tommy Ramone, and others.

Most recently, Barnett’s rendition of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas was prominently showcased in Political Animals, the USA Network television series starring Sigourney Weaver and Ellen Burstyn, and Barnett’s rendition of Jingle Bell Rock appeared in The CW Network’s television series The Flash.

2017 will bring a new Barnett album, an eclectic mix of Americana and roots music.
