Students hit the Summer Leadership Camp

Students from Effingham County Middle and Effingham County High schools took part in the FFA-FCCLA Summer Leadership Camp in Covington.

COVINGTON — This summer 90 students from the Effingham County High School and Effingham County Middle School FFA chapters were challenged to find the “hero within.” They were part of more than 2,500 students who attended the FFA-FCCLA Summer Leadership Camp 2014 at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington.

In addition to learning leadership skills, the students enjoyed swimming, fishing, horseback riding, zip lines, a giant slip-and-slide, “the Blob” and more. On the last day of camp, they participated in an exciting muddy obstacle course.

The students from the Effingham County High School FFA chapter attending camp were: Maggie Badagliacca, David Bartley, Austin Beard, Seana Bryant, Haley Coulter, Kaelyn Decker, Abbie Dickerson, Trent Dickerson, Austin Dixon, Dalton Dixon, Morgan Duff, Sheena Edmondson, Sydney Edwards, Cole Fulcher, Wesley Fulcher, Dylin Gladden, Sarah Gowin, Liam Harrison, Zach Harvey, Jared Holland, Kaylei Howe, Taylor Johnson, Chelsea Lanier, Evan Lastinger, Harley Mays, Adam McDonald, Hastin Morris, Tyler Paris, Tyler Park, Emily Roberts, William Rogers, Annah Shearouse, Christina Smith, Macy Smith, Dillon Tanner, Nick Trapp, David Vickery and Tessa Yardley.

The students from the Effingham County Middle School FFA chapter attending camp were: Cassidy Aiken, Nick Akins, Katie Altis, Colby Beard, Hannah Berry, Cody Carroll, Ryan Causey, Morgan Clifton, Jaylin Coleman, Christopher Colson, Erica Cribbs, Ryan Dickey, Makenzie Driggers, Alexis Faircloth, Madison Farmer, Julia French, Hailey Frost, Anna Fulcher, Allison Gnann, Melanie Gonzales, Cameron Griffith, Macy Harden, Sam Hodges, Maegan Horton, Wyatt Howard, McKenzie Johnson, Jordyn Kicklighter, Baleigh King, John Lister, Makala Lumpkin, Amber Miller, Kylie Miller, Bryce Moore, Grayson Oliver, Nick Peny, Tiffany Pittman, Mary Grace Rahn, Michaela Rahn, Noah Rowe, June Smith, Madison Smith, Katie Stone, Larry Thomas, Ryan Veal, Andrea Villatoro, Caleb Walsh, Chase Weitman, Aaliyah Whitehead, Carleigh Wilson, Sarah Winter and Megan Zeldenrust.

“Summer Leadership Camp provides a chance for FFA and FCCLA students from around the state to grow and learn critical life skills while having exciting experiences that only happen at camp. We have many great activities, but the ultimate goal is to change lives,” said camp manager Russel Towns.
