The competition cheerleading squads from Effingham County's two high schools each brought home a third-place finish from the state competition in Columbus.

The Effingham County High School competition cheerleaders, coached by Katie Ward, finished third in the Class AAAAA state meet.

The South Effingham High School competition cheerleaders placed third in the Class AAAA state cheerleading championships, with only a 10-point difference from first place. SEHS finished fourth in the state last year. The cheerleaders were undefeated in the regular season and won the Region 3-AAAA championship, making them back-to-back region champions.
