Students in the Effingham County School System will have a chance to learn a bit more about agriculture in the state as a result of a gift from the Effingham County Farm Bureau in the form of a DVD and poster for each school.

The short video is titled, “Without Farmers, Georgia Can’t Grow,” and it spotlights Georgia agriculture. It provides a geographical tour of Georgia through agriculture. Stuart Exley, local Farm Bureau president, contacted Evonne Mobley, system CTAE coordinator, about providing this informational video to the schools. Mobley gratefully accepted this donation as the DVD can be used in any class to educate all age groups about the impact that agriculture has on the state’s economy as well as the numerous career opportunities associated with the agricultural industry.

The school system has excellent agricultural programs in all its middle and high schools. Any resource that can further enhance these programs as well as educate others about the opportunities in agriculture is always appreciated. The DVD and the poster will be distributed to the media specialists in each school and will be made available to all teachers.

The video and more information about the state’s largest industry can also be found online at http://www.gfb.org/aboutus/georgia_agriculture.html .
