Seven students in SEHS banking and investing class toured Citizens Bank of Effingham in Springfield on  Dec. 9.

Acting as tour guide, Lisa Pittman of Citizens Bank, introduced these students to the various departments and careers within a bank. Students observed the operation of a business in progress, the professionalism demonstrated by such a business, and the security measures taken by a bank.

These students were able to observe a teller in action on the teller line, experience the security of a vault and understand the buying and selling of money between tellers.

SEHS and Citizens Bank of Effingham are working on establishing a bank within the school. Students in the banking and investing and principles of accounting I classes at SEHS could have the opportunity in the fall of 2009 to work as interns in the bank providing banking services to all enrolled students at SEHS.
