Six receive Title I Distinguished status

The Effingham County Board of Education is proud to announce that the following Title I schools have been recognized by the Georgia Department of Education as Title I Distinguished Schools:

• Blandford Elementary School – four consecutive years in AYP/two years Distinguished – received $742

• Guyton Elementary School – eight consecutive years in AYP/six years Distinguished – received $742

• Marlow Elementary School – eight consecutive years in AYP/six years Distinguished – received $742

• Rincon Elementary School – nine consecutive years in AYP/seven years Distinguished – received $1,113

• Sand Hill Elementary School – eight consecutive years in AYP/six years Distinguished – received $742

• Springfield Elementary School – eight consecutive years in AYP/six years Distinguished – received $742

Title I schools are schools that qualify for federal funding due to the significant population of students who are economically disadvantaged. The federal funds received are used to assist with the academic improvement of the students.

All Title I schools that have made Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for three consecutive years are recognized as Title I Distinguished Schools and are awarded certificates, while those who have made AYP four or more years receive certificates and monetary awards which are paid for out of federal funds.
