Mr. and Mrs. William Layfette “Fette” Turner of Guyton will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, June 29.
The couple met at a popular skating rink in Daffin Park. They were married on June 29, 1947, at the home of the late Rev. George E. Clary Sr. in Savannah. Formerly of Rincon, Mr. and Mrs. Turner operated the Standard Service Center on Highway 21 in the 1970s and were active members of Rincon United Methodist Church. They currently attend Pineora Baptist Church.
Mr. Turner, a diesel mechanic for 48 years, retired in 1992. Mrs. Turner, a homemaker, is the former Mary Margaret Kight. The couple has three daughters, Brenda Pack (Larry) of Ellabell, Ann Stone (Clifton) of Guyton and Joyce Broughan of Richmond Hill; eight grandchildren, Holly and Wade Zipperer, Adam Pack, Joel, Juli and Johnathan Stone, Brandy Cruz and Kristen Broughan; and eight great-grandchildren, Cade and Keller Zipperer, Brooke Pack, Layton, Landon, Bryson, Bailee and Andrea Stone.
