Lynette Rahn and G. Ernest Jones

G. Ernest and Lynette Rahn Jones will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, July 29, from 3-5 p.m. at Springfield United Methodist Church, where the couple was married on June 29, 1957 by the late Rev. J. Kell Hinson. The celebration is being hosted by the couple’s children.

Ernest was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka, Kan. where they made their home until 1959. They then moved back to Springfield. Ernest is now retired from Union Camp. He is the past master of Clyo Masonic Lodge 280 F&AM.

Lynette has done volunteer work in the church, the PTA, the American Cancer Society and the March of Dimes. She has served on the state text book committee, adopting text books for the state of Georgia for over seven years. She also worked with the Georgia crop reporting for seven years.

The couple has three children, Edwin “Ed” Jones of Savannah, Angie Gaskin and Susie Collins of Springfield. They have four grandchildren, Justin and Cheyenne Mock and Jake and Jesse Collins, and one great-grandchild, Cason Collins.
