Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Long Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Edward Long Sr. will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 10. The Longs were married June 10, 1960, at Powers Baptist Church in Eden where they are members and have lived in Effingham County for 50 years.  

Edward, son of Reppard and Elma Long of Bloomingdale, retired from Union Camp after 37 years of service. He still enjoys hunting and farming and being outdoors.  

Beverly, daughter of Howard and Earle Peavy from Faulkville, attended Marlow Consolidated High School. She continued her education at Georgia Teachers College, then returned to Marlow Elementary School where she dedicated 30 years of service, also acquiring her Masters degree from Georgia Southern College. She continues her love of service through church activities.

The couple enjoys camping, church activities, NASCAR and spending time with their children, grandchildren and friends.

The Longs are the parents of two children who also live in Faulkville: Tommy Long, his wife Patricia, and children Austin and Bethany; and Kim Johnson, her husband Greg, and children Brandy, Brittany, Taylor and Mallory and grandchild Zachary.
