Oscelia (Jones) and Charles Wendell Shearouse

Charles Wendell Shearouse and Oscelia Jones Shearouse will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on March 16, 2012. They were married at Riverside Baptist Church in Savannah with the Rev. Wendell Madray officiating.

Wendell graduated from Effingham County High School in 1958 and attended Southern Tech in Chamblee. He worked for Savannah and Atlanta Railroad, SCM Business Machines, and Savannah Sugar Refinery, from where he retired. After retirement, Wendell worked as courier and maintenance person for the Board of Education and is presently a substitute bus driver. Wendell also retired from the Georgia National Guard.

Oscelia graduated from Savannah High in 1959. After graduation, she worked at the Southern Bell Telephone Company in Savannah as an operator. Oscelia owned and operated the Busy Bee Kindergarten in her home for 13 years. She retired from the Effingham Board of Education in 2004.

Wendell and Oscelia are active members of Rincon Baptist Temple. They enjoy traveling, spending time at Lake Sinclair, and being with their family.

Their children and grandchildren, Dwayne and Sherry Duff, Mary Lauren and Jonathan and Randy and Rhonda Shearouse, Kieffer and Anna, will honor them with a reception on Sunday, March 18 from 3-5 p.m. at Rincon Baptist Temple. All family and friends are invited. The family requests no gifts, please.
