First Baptist Church of Rincon will be providing free dental and medical exams, free children’s clothing and a free car wash as part of its annual fall festival Oct. 26 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be free medical exams (basic check-ups such as blood pressure and eye checks), a free car wash, free children’s clothing giveaway, in addition to more traditional fall festival activities such as children’s games and booths.

Lots of games and inflatables will be available with the theme, “Charlie Brown Pumpkin Patch.” Ribbons will be awarded for children’s costumes.

Health care services available include flu shots, free breast exams, free skin cancer screenings, insurance information for at-risk families, diabetes management information, wound care screenings, information on crisis pregnancies, free vision screenings, blood pressure and blood sugar check-ups.

Everything is free, except that a lunch of a hot dog, chips and drink will be available for $1.

The Georgia Baptist Mobile Health Unit will be on the church grounds Oct. 24-26, with local dentists available for consultation and dental work. Patients must call for an appointment for dental exams, and they must be in financial need and have no dental insurance.

Call (912) 658-6345 on Oct. 21 between 4- 8 p.m., or Oct. 22 between 4-8 p.m. Patients must call that number during those times. When the appointment slots are filled, no more appointments will be made.

“The fall festival is our gift of love to Effingham County,” said First Baptist Church of Rincon pastor Bob Rogers. “We decided to get outside the box of typical fall festivals, and in addition to the fun family events, we are offering the free health care, children’s clothing and car wash events.”
