Dave Hansen has accepted the call and will be installed as the new pastor Nov. 22 at 4 p.m. at Bible Lutheran Church, located at 812 Blue Jay Rd. in Rincon. This holy celebration is open to the public.

Hansen hails from Nebraska and as a teenager, his family moved to Stone Mountain. He completed one year at Georgia Tech before realizing his calling to ministry. He then went two years to Concordia College in Austin, Texas, and two years to Concordia College in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he received his B.A. in religious Studies.

Hansen went to Concordia Seminary in St Louis, where he completed his M. Div. graduating in 1985. He was ordained into the ministry in June 1985, at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Tucker.

Hamsen celebrated his 30th year of ordination this year. He spent his first 21 years in parish ministry, serving Concordia and St. Stephen Lutheran in New Orleans, Lamb of God Lutheran in Spartanburg, S.C., Nazareth Lutheran in Hopewell, Va., and Holy Cross and Christ Our Savior Lutheran in Riverdale/Griffin.

After planting Christ Our Savior, the Hansens took a “leave of absence” from parish ministry. From 2007-15, Hansen had various employment opportunities, such as working as a supply pastor, working at a trucking company and at an insurance agency. In 2007, he began traveling around the nation as a fund raiser/speaker on behalf of the organization called Food for the Poor, where he still serves.

God’s timing is always on cue as Pastor Dave will join Bible’s celebration of its sixth anniversary this Sunday.

Pastor Hansen wears a well-rounded experience, including 30 years of ordination and most recently providing ministry for Food for the Poor.
