The local observance of the 61st annual National Day of Prayer is scheduled for 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on May 3 at the Effingham County Courthouse.

This is a community driven event and people from many churches in the area participate.

Christians from throughout Effingham County will join in prayer for the community, the country and the world with this year’s theme "One Nation Under God."

This year’s verse of inspiration is Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord."
