SAN DIEGO When 5-year-old Gideon Robinson heard that his favorite nurse was unmarried, he volunteered to fill the role of husband himself.

The spunky boy recently got down on one knee and asked tall Sarah to marry him. She obliged, saying that shed love for him to be her hospital husband. After a video of the proposal went viral, Gideons family took to Facebook to thank everyone for their support.

Never would I have ever thought that what was just a fun and silly way to pass time, and make amazing memories of this tragedy in our own hearts would end up taking the interest of so many people all over the world, a post on The Adventures of Iron Gideon Facebook page reads. We are honored to have each and every one of you praying for our precious boy and I am I'm in tears typing this because it means so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Gideon, who is battling type-B acute lymphoblastic leukemia at Rady Childrens Hospital in San Diego, reportedly fell for tall Sarah after she gave him a pile of Legos. He gave her a ring made of pipe cleaners and beads during the proposal.

Gideon smiles every time he watches the video, according to his family. An engagement reception dance party was scheduled to take place in the hospitals halls after his big proposal on Jan. 27.

While treatments have been rough, Gideons family is optimistic that he will recover. Doctors told them there is a 90 percent chance he will be cured within the next 3 1/2 years, according to a GoFundMe page created by the family. Regular updates on his condition are posted on the Adventures of Iron Gideon Facebook page.
