Lego releases 1st minifigure in a wheelchair

A new Lego minifigure that uses a wheelchair is receiving praise for giving children with disabilities the chance to connect with a toy that matches their life experiences.

NPR reported that the new minifigure will be released in June as part of the Fun at the Park Lego set.

Supporters of the Toy Like Me campaign, which encourages toy companies to release figures that reflect children with disabilities, are celebrating, according to NPR.

We are beyond happy right now," Rebecca Atkinson of Toy Like Me said in a statement posted online. "Lego has just rocked our brick-built world and made 150 million disabled kids, their moms, dads, pet dogs and hamsters very, very happy.
