Ivanka Trumps unannounced visit to a Connecticut high school drew fire from parents last week.

Parents pulled their children out of school after President Donald Trumps daughter made an unannounced visit to Norwalk Early College Academy at Norwalk High School.

One parent, Karey Fitzgerald, told News 12 Connecticut that she wished Ivanka Trumps arrival would have been announced earlier so that parents could decide whether or not to send their child to school on that day.

"This should have been brought to our attention, although I do understand security reasons," she said. "I think we should have had the choice to send our child to school or keep them home."

Other parents celebrated Ivanka Trump for promoting the school's science and engineering educational program, according to U.S. News and World Report.

Thank you Ivanka Trump for visiting the school, one woman wrote on Ivanka Trumps Facebook post about the visit, according to U.S. News. It is such a great honor to have a successful, inspiring woman and advisor to President Trump to visit and encourage students.

Ivanka Trump, along with IBM CEO Ginni Rometty, spoke to students at the Norwalk Academy, where an IBM program allows students to work on a high school degree, associates degree and learn technical skills, according to USA Today.

Students enrolled in the Norwalk Early College Academy program earn degrees in software engineering and mobile programming.

"To see the passion and enthusiasm for bringing real life skills into a classroom environment but then coupling it with real life experience through internship creates this really beautiful virtuous angle," Ivanka Trump said, according to News 12 Connecticut.

Ivanka Trump later tweeted about the visit.

According to The Washington Examiner, Ivanka Trump has led the charge for her fathers administration to add more science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields within the American education system.
