The plan was fairly simple in concept, but more involved in practice. Workers reconstructed the living room wall of each visiting family member in a van and parked the van in front of their family members homes. They video chatted as usual, made excuses to leave for a moment, then left the vans to knock on their loved ones respective doors. - photo by Martha Ostergar
CALGARY Weve all been homesick for loves ones, maybe with feelings so strong we would do about anything to see a loved one who lives far away.

Shaw, a cable and communications company in Canada, empathizes with that feeling, so their powers that be decided to reunite three families who live worlds away from one another.

Each family had a habit of video chatting to keep in touch, so Shaw took advantage of that fact, then worked with video company Shareability to facilitate and film the surprise visits.

The plan was fairly simple in concept, but more involved in practice. Workers reconstructed the living room wall of each visiting family member in a van and parked the van in front of their family members homes. They video chatted as usual, made excuses to leave for a moment, then left the vans to knock on their loved ones respective doors. (Watch the behind-the-scenes video to find out more.)

Each story and surprise sweet and happy; its enough to soften the heart of virtually any curmudgeon.

While the video was made and released in conjunction with Canadas Thanksgiving Day, which was Oct. 12 this year, the message of gratitude and love for friends and families isnt seasonal.

Watch the video above to make your day a little brighter. And maybe, just maybe, youll be compelled to call or visit the ones you love too.
