Kartway gears up for big benefit

Fundraiser will be March 5th 10 a.m. at Pineora Kartway. Amission is $10 and all proceeds will benefit the Robbie Moore Medical Fund.

It’s all gearing up for a fundraiser for an Effingham County teen who’s been diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Robbie Moore, a 15-year-old from Rincon and a sophomore at Effingham County High School, was diagnosed last month with a brain tumor, and Pineora Kartway is staging a day-long fundraiser March 5 for Moore’s medical bills.

“It’s going to be amazing,” said Kimberly Studier Kidd. “It’s overwhelming the people who have stepped up.”

Moore has competed at Pineora Kartway, which the Studiers have owned for more than 40 years, in his own go-kart, a ride he bought with his own money. Moore cut lawns and used the money he earned to purchase his own go-kart.
