A man convicted of two lesser offenses in an armed robbery case is appealing his verdict in an Effingham County Superior Court.
Scott Alexander Connely was found guilty of giving a false name and obstruction of an officer last month and not guilty of armed robbery and possession of a firearm in commission of a felony. Connely was charged along with Grady Renard Williams in a Dec. 3, 2005, armed robbery.
Williams was convicted of armed robbery, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony and two counts of obstruction of an officer. Williams, who served 21 months for a drug conviction and was released Jan. 24, was sentenced to life plus five years.
Connely was sentenced to one year for giving a false name and a year to serve consecutively for obstruction of an officer.
Connely’s appeal has been filed with the Georgia Court of Appeals.
