CASA to hold inaugural Mother's Day luncheon

The Savannah-Chatham County Court Appointed Special Advocates Program will hold its first Mother’s Day luncheon on May 6 at the Chatham Club in the Desoto Hilton Hotel.  

The event begins at 11:30 a.m.  The keynote speaker is Savannah/Chatham Metropolitan Police Chief Michael Berkow. The theme is “Every Child Deserves a Good Mother.”  

The cost is $35 per person and checks can be mailed to Savannah CASA, 428 Bull St., Suite 205, Savannah, GA 31401.

Every day in America:  1,849 children are abused, neglected or abandoned, three children die from child abuse and 1,188 children are removed from their homes and placed in foster care or institutions.

Last year CASA served 495 children who had been abused or neglected.
