Lt. Col. Brian J. Corbett is retiring from active duty after more than 20 years of service to the U.S. Air Force and the Georgia Air National Guard.

Corbett enlisted in the Air Force in 1980. After assignments as a law enforcement specialist and cost and management analyst, he left active duty in 1986, joining the Georgia Air National Guard as a maintenance management analyst. After an additional assignment as a maintenance plans and scheduling technician, he was selected for commissioning and graduated from the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science in September 1990.

Shortly after his commission, he was selected to command the 165th Security Police Flight. In March 1993, he returned to aircraft maintenance as a maintenance staff officer.  Selected to command the newly formed 165th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, he was ultimately selected as the full-time director of maintenance and assigned as the maintenance squadron commander in March 2005.

Corbett is a veteran of numerous deployments, including Operation Coronet Oak, Operation Joint Forge and Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He also deployed to Southwest Asia in direct support of the Global War on Terror, serving as Expeditionary Maintenance Group Commander.

Corbett and his wife Jan reside in Guyton. Their family numbers two sons, Jason and Jeff, and a daughter-in-law, Angela.
