Effingham County Family Connection recently awarded three grants in support of community efforts to assist children and families.

The grants totaling $1,772 were presented to Family Promise of Effingham, Project SEARCH and the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit’s CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program.

Family Promise helps local homeless families get back on their feet. The Family Connection grant will fund parenting classes using the “Parenting the Love and Logic Way” curriculum for families in the Family Promise program.

Project SEARCH provides internships to students with developmental disabilities and trains them in entry-level positions. The grant will assist the program in finding and providing opportunities for education, training or employment after graduation for Effingham students with disabilities.

For CASA, the funding will help increase awareness of its need for volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children. The campaign will be through advertising in local media.
