Milligan retires from Army

John and Diane Shearouse of Guyton are proud to announce the retirement of their son, Sgt. 1st Class James C. Milligan, from the U.S. Army on Dec. 31 after more than 21 years of service.

Sgt. 1st Class Milligan was attached to the 24th Infantry Division while serving in Operation Desert Storm from 1990-1991. Then he went to Korea where he served on the DMZ from 1992-1993. After returning home, he was later sent to Germany in 2000, where he was sent to Kosovo.

Upon his return home, Sgt. 1st Class Milligan was assigned to the 4th Infantry Division. He was sent to Iraq for another year from 2005-2006.

He is now enjoying spending time with his boys in Killeen, Texas.

Sgt. 1st Class Milligan is a graduate of Effingham County High School.
