A grant from the York Children’s Foundation and matched by Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home will assist the Treutlen House at New Ebenezer with its day-to-day expenses.

Funeral home owner Tommy Strickland recently presented the $1,500 contribution to Kristen Wert, director of Treutlen House at New Ebenezer.

Funded by the Matthews International Casket Division, one of Thomas C. Strickland and Sons Funeral Home’s suppliers, the York Children’s Foundation awards quarterly grants to non-profit organizations that assist children.

Treutlen House at New Ebenezer, a group home for boys in the foster-care system, submitted an application and was awarded one of the grants.

The funds will help Treutlen House with its operating expenses, Wert said. Those include necessities such as groceries, clothes and school supplies for the boys living there.

Along with financial contributions, Treutlen House can always use donations of items such as toiletries, towels, bed sheets and blankets, as well as volunteers to give their time.
