An autopsy will be conducted Wednesday morning to determine the identity of a body found in a truck that belonged to a missing Armstrong Atlantic State University student.

The vehicle of missing student Bryce Tarter was found Tuesday afternoon in the Little Ogeechee River near Bell’s Landing, not far from the Armstrong campus. The Camden County Sheriff’s Office’s marine search team, called into to help in the search for Tarter, located the vehicle.

According to the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department, the area where the truck, a white 2000 Nissan Frontier, was found had been searched several times previously and with the use of the side scan sonar used Tuesday.

Once the truck was pulled out of the water, GBI agents opened the door and discovered a body inside.

Tarter had been missing since the night of Jan. 31.

The GBI will attempt to obtain a positive ID of the body through dental records.
