Rincon interim city manager Wesley Corbitt has confirmed that police chief Mike Bohannon was relieved of his duties Thursday morning.

Bohannon was placed on administrative leave earlier this week, and city council members met Wednesday night in executive session for two hours. Though council members took no official action, Corbitt announced after the meeting that Bohannon had been put on administrative leave. Corbitt cited differences in management philosophies.

In a statement Thursday, Corbitt said Bohannon was fired for his "failure to correct his management deficiencies, after being given the appropriate guidance."
