Effingham Hospital announces that Janice Ford, APRN, will be providing health care services with a focus on women’s health in a new location at 1451 Highway 21 South, Suite H in Springfield.
Ford will see patients of all ages, from infants to seniors, and her practice has a special emphasis on women’s health. Ford will begin seeing patients in her new location starting Feb. 14. Community members are invited to participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new practice Feb. 14 at 10 a.m.
“I am very excited about the opportunity to provide health care services to the Springfield community in this new setting,” Ford said. “This is truly my dream – to provide care for all members of the family, and at the same time, place some additional focus on women’s health. As our lives get more hectic, it tends to be the reason to put off personal healthcare. I am really focused on the simple things we can do to improve our overall health.”
Ford has spent the last four years with the Effingham Hospital System. She has worked as a registered nurse at Effingham Hospital and then served as a family nurse practitioner with the hospital as well as with Effingham Medical Partners. She came to Effingham Hospital after spending 22 years with the Effingham County Health Department.
She has a Master’s degree in nursing as well as an Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner degree, both from Georgia Southern University.
“Opening a new family practice office with Janice at the helm allows us to further our mission of providing quality, local health care in the Springfield community,” said Effingham Hospital CEO Norma Jean Morgan. “With a special emphasis on women’s health, women in the community are assured to receive the compassionate and high-quality health care they seek close to home.”
Some of the women’s health services Ford will provide to her patients include annual wellness exams, screening for breast and cervical cancer, treatment for gynecological health issues, pregnancy testing as well as general primary care for the entire family, including treatment of acute illnesses, non-emergency injuries and school physicals.
Ford is a lifelong resident of Springfield.
“This is my hometown and these residents are my home people. To have the opportunity to use my skills for people I know is very exciting,” she said.
Effingham Family Medicine at Twenty One will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday and will be closed for lunch from noon-1 p.m. every day. Most insurance is accepted and Ford also is accepting new Medicare and Medicaid patients.
