Friday night's Effingham County-South Effingham football game is a BIG deal for a lot of reasons. One of them is the trophy that is awarded to the winner of the annual grudge match.

The NFL's Lombardi Trophy looks like a hood ornament compared to the hardware that is currently in possession of the Rebels.

"Effingham County has had it the last two years and we'd like to bring it back to our side," Mustangs coach Donnie Revell said.

The Rebels earned the right to keep the County Champions Trophy, about four feet tall, after knocking off the Mustangs 34-7 last year. That victory gave them a slight 12-11 advantage in the series that started in 1996.
