Bulloch County investigators are seeking a woman Sheriff Lynn Anderson said shot and killed her boyfriend.

Anderson said 21-year-old Kendra McDaniel of Keith Road in Guyton, killed 26-year-old Jonathan Sheffield of Davis Lane in Sylvania, at her mother’s house on Macedonia Road in Statesboro on Saturday.

Investigators took McDaniel’s mother, 37-year-old Katherine Lynn Hodges, 578 Macedonia Road, into custody after the shooting Saturday around 12:30 p.m., Anderson said. However, they are looking for McDaniel, who they believe may be in the Effingham County area. Law enforcement in Effingham is assisting in the search.

Hodges is charged with murder, aggravated assault, obstruction and giving a false statement. Warrants for McDaniel include murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a first offender, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, giving a false statement and terroristic threats.
