Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies have made one arrest, and more could be coming, after investigators uncovered a suspected marijuana growhouse.

Robert Razook, 39, was taken into custody Tuesday evening and charged with 227 counts of manufacturing marijuana, trafficking marijuana and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor said investigators received an anonymous tip at a mobile home on Bark Drive. When they approached the trailer, they could smell the marijuana from several feet away.

Investigators obtained a search warrant and entered the premises. No one was at the house when members of the Drug Suppression Unit executed the search warrant.

But inside they found what appeared to be a significant marijuana growing operation.

“All the bedrooms were full of marijuana plants,” Ehsanipoor said.

Authorities suspect that Razook was staying at the house and sleeping on the couch while both bedrooms were used to grow marijuana. In all, investigators said they found 227 marijuana plants.

During the search, investigators discovered the plants, which were in various stages of growth, along with tools used for growing and harvesting marijuana, including several scales and grow lamps.

This is an ongoing investigation by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Unit and additional arrests are expected.
