The Effingham County Sheriff's Office and the Rincon Police Department are seeking the public's help in identifying a subject who bought a screwdriver at the Rincon Wal-Mart and stole a car from the Wal-Mart parking lot shortly thereafter.

Just after midnight Tuesday, a store surveillance cameras showed a black male abandon a vehicle stolen in Florida in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Cameras show the suspect breaking into a vehicle and damaging the radio. After he got out of that car, he went into the store and spent more than an hour inside.

Shortly after 1 a.m., he bought a screwdriver and used it to break into a Buick LeSabre that was parked in the Rincon Wal-Mart lot. He stole that vehicle and the LeSabre was recovered several hours later in Florida.

"The Effingham County Sheriff's Office is eager to work with the community and appreciates their support in combating crime in the community," said Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's department at 754-3449.
