Late night arrest uncovers meth lab

Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies have discovered a methamphetamine lab in south Effingham County and arrested a Bloomingdale woman on several meth related charges.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Monday morning, deputies received an anonymous tip from that there was a methamphetamine lab at a residence on Highway 80. Patrol deputies responded to follow up on the complaint. Upon deputies’ arrival, they located a methamphetamine lab and a quantity of methamphetamine.  

Cynthia Scharp, 47, of Bloomingdale, was taken into custody and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine. Scharp was currently wanted for probation violation as well. She is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.

Additional arrests are expected.
