An Effingham County man was arrested Thursday on charges that he not only molested a boy, but also videotaped the sexual acts and shared them online.
Brandon Fanning, 19, of Guyton was charged with aggravated child molestation, child molestation and sexual exploitation of a child. He is being held in the Effingham County Jail.
“The investigation revealed that Fanning had been molesting an underage boy and possessed videos of the sexual acts between him and the victim, which he was sharing,” said Effingham County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.
To protect the victim’s identity, Ehsanipoor did not reveal how Fanning and the boy knew each other.
After receiving a tip that someone was videotaping sexual acts with a minor and sharing them, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security investigated.
“It resulted in this arrest and possibly more down the road,” Ehsanipoor said.
Investigators arrested Fanning Thursday at a home in the 100 block of Lakeshore Road.
Videos of Fanning engaged in sexual activities with a dog also were found, according to investigators.
The case remains under investigation by the ECSO and the Department of Homeland Security.
