Three people are in jail facing various charges following a drug sting in Rincon on Friday afternoon targeting those illegally purchasing pseudoephedrine at a local pharmacy.

According to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, investigators with the ECSO Drug Suppression Team arrested three of the suspects for unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine. During the investigation, investigators found methamphetamine and later found a methamphetamine lab at a residence on Turkey Branch Road in Springfield.

“Our drug unit monitors local pharmacies, and they found out they were purchasing illegal amounts of pseudoephedrine,” said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor.

The three suspects were found at a local drugstore, and that led investigators to a search of their home, Ehsanipoor said.

Jason McDonald, 31, of Springfield, was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine. Jeremy Wingate, 35, of Bloomingdale, and Travis Mixon, 29, of Rincon, were charged with unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine, conspiracy to commit a drug related offense, and possession of methamphetamine.

All three are currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.
