One man arrested after deputies respond to ‘shots fired’ call

EFFINGHAM COUNTY -- Effingham County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a “shots fired” call in the area of Bob White Lane, in Springfield, just after 3 p.m. March 20.

When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered two homes and a vehicle damaged by gun fire. The investigation resulted in a search warrant being executed by the Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Rincon Police Department.

As a result of the search warrant, authorities recovered evidence related to the shooting incident, including firearms and illegal drugs. Herbert Green, 38, of Rincon was arrested and will be charged with the following: four counts of aggravated assault, three counts of criminal damage to property, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony; and one count felony possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule 1 drug (mushrooms) and possession of a Schedule 1 drug (mushrooms) with the intent to distribute; possession of a Schedule 1 drug (ecstasy), and possession of a Schedule 1 drug (ecstasy) with intent to distribute.
